(January 31, 2023)-- North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity (NWV Habitat) has hired Daniel Haun as its new executive director.

Haun comes to NWV Habitat with an extensive background in state and non-profit organizations committed to improving conditions for individuals facing a variety of challenges. The Mount Angel-based affiliate builds affordable housing for local families in need.

“We look forward to Dan leading the NWV Habitat team in increasing the number of partner families who will be able to achieve their dream of home ownership at Peters Garden in Silverton, and throughout our service area in Marion and Clackamas Counties,” NWV Habitat Board Chair Richard Truitt said. 

Haun, who hails from Silverton, looks forward to lifting up his community.

“I am stepping into an ideal position with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate that will allow me to capitalize on my skill set to have an impact on my local community," Haun said. "NWV Habitat is gearing up for some significant growth over the next couple of years and I am excited to see the difference our staff, volunteers and board can have in our area.” 

Haun holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University and a master’s in rehabilitation counseling from Western Oregon University. He has spent 23 years working in human services at many levels.

Haun comes from the Oregon Department of Human Services, where he most recently spent six years as the deputy, then director of the agency's Self Sufficiency Programs. The majority of his working years have been in leadership roles in the vocational rehabilitation and workforce arenas. He has a passion for creating opportunities for people who, due to varied challenges and life experiences, have not had the same opportunities he has had.

For more than 36 years, NWV Habitat has served the communities of Silverton, Mount Angel, Woodburn, Hubbard, Molalla, Scotts Mills, Gervais, Aurora, Canby and Oregon City.

The affiliate has built nearly 50 homes in the area to serve families in need, in addition to their work to assist low income individuals by providing accessibility modifications to their existing homes.
